Your Emotional IQ is 109

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Tickle's Emotional IQ test. But your Emotional IQ score is much more than just a number: it's an indicator of success.

Research has shown that people with high emotional intelligence scores - not necessarily those with the highest IQ scores - tend to be the most valued and productive employees and have the longest and happiest romantic relationships.

So, where are you most emotionally smart? Your test results show that your strongest suit is perception - your ability to pick up on what others are feeling.

Because of this, you are unusually good at reading people's verbal and non-verbal cues. You're especially aware of the subtleties of people's actions, and can feel out the vibe of a situation better than many. That gives you and edge many wish they had. People with high perception skills like yours, however, tend to rely on them to the exclusion of others. As a result, they sometimes have underdeveloped abilities in other realms of critical emotional intelligence like managing emotions, empathy, and being expressive.

I got 121 with a strongest score in "empathy" ... not sure how accurate the test is as with multiple choice questions it's relatively easy to see what is incorrect and get the right answer from a process of elimination, as opposed to having to come up with the answer without those prompts. I also hate how sometimes, especially with these sort of test, the answer you want isn't part of the choices ...

I agree about the multiple choice thing Ben, but I never try and pick the "right" answers, just the ones that seem the closest to what I actually think... but I totally agree with you on not having the answer you want as part of the choices... it's like "which of these is most like you"... well, none actually... :P

I try to pick the closest ones as well, as could be seen by the breakdown and how many I got wrong. But I think its easy to be influenced as much by the answers themselves as by the pictures above them, especially when in half the pictures I thought they looked sick or thoughtful yet after reading the answers thought "well, maybe he looks sad" ...

Anyway, I think the test missed an important aspect of my personality in that yes, I can empathise with people and how they feel, but sometimes I just don't care ... hehe, a bit of a paradox, but true enough

I got 119 and empathy too... I agree about the multiple choice too, particularly with the photos.., my first reaction was often not there, so I chose the closest which often wasn't quite right.

Self assessment, multi-choice or otherwise, is probably a bit misleading too, especially with the "what are you most like" questions, as you know the "right" answer. I mean, if I'm a pyscho weirdo I'm not going to admit it am I!!

I should get my boss to do it - he'd get less than 10. I'm sure of it. :P
