brief shopping with unexpected breakfast

briefs and wieners
Today's shopping was fairly brief but not without unexpected moments.

After the Fringe show we had dinner and a wander around the Summer Friday market in the East End... the whole of Rundle Street was heaving with people, which reminded me of exactly why I usually avoid Fringe shows in the city on Fridays...

Then once we got back I had an ultimately pointless late night... and didn't get to sleep until about 2am...

So I was a little slow to get started this morning... fortunately so was Ma, so I still managed to tidy up some stuff and get ready before she arrived.

When she got here she suggested that instead of heading to Bakers Delight like we usually do, we could actually go out and get a proper breakfast somewhere after shopping... and when we got to the supermarket I remembered I had one of those Entertainment Book coupons in my wallet for the Royal Oak in North Adelaide.

So we did some fairly brief shopping... neither of us were really at home very much last week, and what with public holidays, days off and Fringe shows, it's not going to be that different this week.

Then we came back here, did the usual unpacking nonsense, and then wandered down the road to The Royal Oak just as it started to spit with rain.

hello unexpected big oak breakfast
As always I went with the Big Oak Breakfast plus baked beans, a coffee and a juice, which pretty much always ends up putting me in a food coma... but in a good way, if there is such a thing.

And given that we had the voucher, we saved a good $20, which is always a bonus.

I'd been intending to head down there for breakfast next weekend for my usual post-birthday, post-Fringe recovery breakfast, but it was nice to do it a little early with Ma.

It also doesn't mean that I can't find somewhere different or new next weekend...

Fortunately by the time we were finished it had stopped raining, although it wasn't any cooler... just more humid... bleh...

Now you would think that it wouldn't be that hard to find an A4 piece of medium grey cardboard... that seems like something that should exist in the world, right?

Turns out not so much... or at least it didn't exist anywhere we looked around Arndale and at the newsagent near me. So I may have to take a little side trip to Officeworks tomorrow.

That was about it actually... a wander around Arndale looking for cardboard and a couple of other things, and then Ma went home.

I grew up eating baked beans and stopped eating them altogether when I left home. It was only a few months ago when I started eating them again - and they taste much better than I remember them!!!
